Do you love nature and words?  Join local author Donna Kaz in this three-week nature writing workshop. In each class, we will discuss different forms of nature writing and test a range of techniques for writing about the unique landscape of fall. Participants will be guided through examples of how poets like Mary Oliver and essayists like Rachel Carson use their environment to inspire their writing styles. No writing or workshop experience is necessary. Come prepared to read, share your own interests and writing, and stroll through the great outdoors.

Donna Kaz is the author of “UN/MASKED, Memoirs of a Guerrilla Girl On Tour.” Her essays and poems have appeared in VarietyTheatre TopicsMs. Magazine, YOU, Bust, Alternet, Role Reboot, Stonecoast Review, Crab Orchard Review, The Dramatist, Ful Art magazine, Girl Drive Blog, Lilith, The Sun, Gender Across Borders and Women in Hollywood. Her plays have been produced around the world and she is the recipient of Venus Theatre’s Lifetime Achievement Award, a Jerry Kaufman Playwriting Award, and the Yoko Ono Courage Award for the Arts. Ms. Kaz is a 2022/23 Winterthur Research Fellow.

Please note: There is a minimum of five and maximum of fifteen participants needed for this group class.

You must commit to all three dates, as your work will progress throughout the three weeks.

Sessions will be canceled, and you will be refunded if less than five participants sign up.

You will be notified by Elizabeth Herrick, the Education Coordinator, by October 10, 2022 if the classes will not be held.
