About the Workshop

The Way of Watercolor is a six-workshop series focused on landscapes. Students will learn basic skills in watercolor. This includes learning techniques to create washes, mix colors, and handle various tools to create different effects. These techniques will be applied to creating skies, land areas, beaches, water, and foliage.

Please note supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop, please see the supply list below for details.

 

Supply List

The following supplies below are recommended. If you have supplies that you are currently comfortable working with, you may bring those. The instructor will introduce and review supplies on day one. Recommended Stores include Michael’s, Blick Art Materials, Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, and Jerry’s Artarama. 

Basic Supplies: 

  • High Quality Watercolor Paper *Important* 
    • Recommended Brand: Arches Cold Pressed 140 lb. 
    • 30”x22” can be cut into smaller pieces 
    • Also sold in pre-cut ‘blocks’ 
  • Watercolor Brushes
    • Recommended Brands: Princeton, Silver Brush: Black Velvet or synthetic brands ○ Round brushes (sizes 6, 8, 10)
    • 1” or 2” Flat wash brush
  • Watercolor Paint
    • Recommended Brands: Winsor Newton, Holbein, and Daniel Smith
    • Indanthrene Blue
    • Permanent Alizarin Crimson
    • Permanent Rose
    • New Gamboge
    • Raw Sienna

Additional Supplies: 

  • Spray Bottle 
  • Small Flat Toothbrush 
  • Paint Palette 
  • Painting Board 
  • Masking Tape

About the Instructor

Teresa Cromwell has been a practicing watercolor artist since 2006. She has exhibited and won awards in various shows across Long Island. She is a Signature member of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Northeast, and Rhode Island Watercolor Societies.
