Photograph of Oak Park by Courtney PureCreated as part of the original Frederick Law Olmsted property design this elegant English-style park consists of rolling hills and mature oak trees. When the woodlots surrounding the manor house were cleared, Black Oaks were strategically left to become large specimen landscape trees. Over the years in anticipation of eventual decline, succession plants were installed. Notice the distinct architectures of 14 species of oak among them the magnificent Black Oak, one of the oldest trees at the Arboretum.
