About the workshop

This 6-week series is designed to be a fun, educational addition to your child’s summer. We will cover a variety of topics that give us a deeper understanding of where the food we eat comes from including growing vegetables, creating compost, the precipitation cycle, supporting pollinators, raising chickens, and harvesting crops. This class is best intended for ages 5-12 and is a rain-or-shine event. It is always wise to dress for a mess!

This program is recommended to be taken as a series, a discounted rate is applied for those who enroll for all 6 weeks. However, participants are able to register for individual topics of interest. Parents are required to remain with children for the duration of the class.

Educational Outcomes:

● Practice newly emerging motor skills and behavioral patterns.

● Develop social skills through both imaginative and cooperative play.

● Foster a deeper sense of connection to nature.

*Fees cannot be refunded for participant cancellation or any other reason. In the event of extreme weather, class location may be moved indoors or a weather-related make-up date will be held for no additional cost to the registrant. **Transactions will be processed through the Natural Heritage Trust as a donation on behalf of Bayard Cutting Arboretum.

About the workshop

In this 5-week farm school series, we will explore all the elements that allow plants to grow with plenty of time to visit the chickens in between. Activities will be fun, crafty, and a bit messy to engage our young farmers in hands-on learning. Topics include planting seeds, watering plants, creating compost, helping pollinators, and harvesting. This class is best intended for ages 2-7 and is a rain-or-shine event. It is always wise to dress for a mess!
