About the Workshop

Discover the power of flowers! Studies show that having flowers in your home or office can decrease feelings of anxiety or depression and increase energy, happiness, and enthusiasm. In this workshop, our cut-flower specialist will present the species grown on our CSA Farm; Each being uniquely selected and hand-cultivated for their value in flower arrangements.

Participants can expect to return home with a vase full of beautiful fresh-cut flowers and a better understanding of the fundamentals of flower arranging. Flower varieties include Zinnias, Dahlias, Yarrow, Globe Amaranths, Sunflowers, Bee Balm, and many more!

Outcomes

● Become acquainted with the cut-flower varieties grown on the CSA Farm.

● Develop a basic understanding of flower arrangement terms and techniques.

● Create a unique flower arrangement for the home, office, or gift-giving.

 

*Fees cannot be refunded for participant cancellation or any other reason. In the event of extreme weather, class location may be moved indoors or a weather-related make-up date will be held for no additional cost to the registrant.

**Transactions will be processed through the Natural Heritage Trust as a donation on behalf of Bayard Cutting Arboretum.

About the Workshop

Join us Saturday, May 13 for Snack ‘N Scarves, a workshop for children ages 6 and up! In this workshop you can:

• Makes Great gifts!

• Learn a unique method for dying fabric

• Instructions on how to select colors that work well together

• Each student will receive individualized attention from the staff

• Printed instructions provided so you can do this at home with an adult

• A FUN, fool-proof activity, each step of the process fully demonstrated

• Easy clean-up (Yes! We love that!)

Materials

Students will be given all the necessary materials to dye in class along with printed instructions. Beverages, light snacks, Lots of laughs, and fun!

Where is the workshop held?

Classes are held at the Bayard Cutting Lower Carriage House.

 

What if I want to make a second or a third scarf for someone?

Each student will have the opportunity to dye a second scarf on the same dye base; If this option is selected, a fee of $15 CASH per additional scarf will be collected in class.

 

What should the students wear to class?

PLEASE have your child wear or bring old clothes: t-shirt/jeans, clothes they can get dye on.
