About the Workshop

Enjoy light refreshments while learning about the flowers grown on our CSA Farm. Each being is uniquely selected and hand-cultivated for their value in arrangements. Participants can expect to return home with a vase full of beautiful, fresh-cut flowers and a better understanding of the basic fundamentals of flower arranging. This workshop highlights a beautiful array of wildflowers grown on the farm, such as: Zinnias, Phlox, Yarrow, Globe Amaranths, Cosmos, Bee Balm, and many more!

Teresa Cromwell has been a practicing watercolor artist since 2006. She has exhibited and won awards in various shows across Long Island. She is a Signature member of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Northeast, and Rhode Island Watercolor Societies.

Students will learn basic skills in watercolor. This will include learning techniques to create washes, mix colors, and handle various tools to create different effects. These techniques will be applied to creating trees, leaves, flowers, and foliage. Supplies are not included in the cost of the workshop, please see the supply list for details. All skill levels are welcome!

Supply List

The following supplies are recommended. If you have supplies that you are currently comfortable working with, you may bring those. The instructor will introduce and review supplies on day one. Recommended Stores include Michael’s, Blick Art Materials, Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, and Jerry’s Artarama.

Basic Supplies:

High Quality Watercolor Paper *Important*
- Recommended Brand: Arches Cold Pressed 140 lb.
- 30”x22” can be cut into smaller pieces
- Also sold in pre-cut ‘blocks’
Watercolor Brushes
- Recommended Brands: Princeton, Silver Brush: Black Velvet or synthetic brands ○ Round brushes (sizes 6, 8, 10)
- 1” or 2” Flat wash brush

Watercolor Paint
- Recommended Brands: Winsor Newton, Holbein, and Daniel Smith
- Indanthrene Blue
- Permanent Alizarin Crimson
- Permanent Rose
- New Gamboge
- Raw Sienna

Perfectly Preserved: Herbal Vinegar Infusions

Herbal-infused vinegars are one of the easiest ways to put up the bounty of the season for later use. Learn the basics, different uses, and then customize your own flavors from herbs grown here at our own CSA Farm. For use in cooking, salad dressings, drinks, cleaning supplies and pickling recipes.

We will be working with both apple cider vinegar & white wine vinegar and have access to a variety of fresh herbs from the Farm including: basil, oregano, parsley, dill, sage, thyme, chives, garlic, horseradish, and hot pepper varieties.

Wit & Whim: Outdoor Trivia Night

Saturday, August 1, 2026 | 6:00 – 8:30 PM

Ages 21+

Cost: $25 pp

Assemble a team of your smartest friends and test your knowledge of the great outdoors here at Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Spend a summer evening with good company on the porch of the Manor House overlooking the Great Lawn for a friendly competition of wits.

Up to 5 people per team, $25 per person. Includes two drink tickets, light refreshments, and prizes for winning teams. Questions will be themed around horticulture, ecology, and of course, Bayard Cutting Arboretum history!

About the Workshop

Humans and herbs have grown alongside each other since the dawn of time. Cultivated for both their flavor profiles and medicinal value, herbs are a fundamental part of the kitchen garden. In this workshop, participants can expect to package their own herbal tea blends utilizing dried herbs grown on our CSA Farm . Herbal varieties include: chamomile, calendula, lemon balm, lavender, sage, mint, and more!
