Asclepias incarnata, colloquially known as swamp milkweed grows well in medium to wet soil in full sun. This herbaceous perennial is naturally found in swamps and wet meadows.

 

NOTEWORTHY CHARACTERISTICS

This herbaceous perennial is naturally found in swamps and wet meadows. Once established it produces very deep taproots so it is best left undisturbed. It grows on average 3-4’ tall and is a great source of nectar for butterflies and pollinators. Flowers range from pink to mauve and on rare occasions white.

 

PROBLEMS

No serious insect or disease problems.

 

GARDEN USES

Used in sunny borders near streams, ponds or other moist areas. Great for butterfly gardens.
