According to fossil records, the dawn redwood existed over 50,000,000 years ago and is related to Taxodium and Sequoia. This deciduous conifer grows to be 100’ tall with fern-like foliage.

 

PROBLEMS

No serious insect or disease problems. Deer tolerant.
 

GARDEN USES

This is a very large specimen that needs space so it’s an excellent landscape specimen or used as a street tree.
