Native to the Japanese Islands, Chamaecyparis pisifera, commonly known as Sawara Cypress, is a colorful needled evergreen that grows from three to five feet tall. It is very low maintenance and drought resistant.
PROBLEMS
No serious insect or disease problems. Susceptible to root rot and bagworms.
GARDEN USES
Used as a large garden specimen or as a hedge screen. Dwarf versions are often seen in rock gardens.
